The University of St. Thomas men’s hockey team was picked first in its conference coaches’ poll and second by the media’s poll Tuesday.
The Tommies finished last season in second place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with a 14-18-2 overall record and 12-11-2 in the CCHA.
The team’s 2023-2024 campaign ended in a three-game playoff series against Lake Superior State 2-1.
St. Thomas sits on top of the coaches’ poll with 73 votes and the media has the team tied with the defending champions Bemidji State at 107. The Beavers edged the Tommies in the media poll with one additional first-place vote.
The Tommies take the ice against the St. Cloud State Huskies Saturday, Oct. 6 at St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights.
