University of St. Thomas basketball star Kendall Blue is returning to the Tommies after a one-year transfer to the University of Nebraska. Blue, now a graduate student, announced his return to the team Sept. 10 through an Instagram post showing him in a St. Thomas jersey captioned, “I’m back.”
The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 10.1 points per game during his first three years with the Tommies. Meanwhile, he averaged just 0.7 points per game and 3.5 minutes per game during his tenure at Nebraska, according to ESPN.
Blue was a core member of the St. Thomas basketball team that had an inspiring run in the 2025 Summit League playoffs, in which they exceeded their No. 4 seed but eventually lost to No. 1 seed Omaha in the final. During his year at Nebraska, Blue saw the Cornhuskers earn a No. 4 seed in March Madness and advance to the Sweet 16, where they lost to the University of Iowa, according to ESPN.
St. Thomas Associate Director of Athletic Communications Collin Boyles said that the university declined to comment on Blue’s return pending ongoing NCAA litigation. Blue is currently listed on the 2026-27 team roster.
