St. Thomas Public Safety discovered a man with two knives and a BB gun loitering in the Harmon Court parking ramp on the Minneapolis campus Thursday morning.

Minneapolis campus public safety manager Brian Rich confirmed with The Crest that the man’s weapons were confiscated, and he was escorted out of the ramp by Rich and the initial officer, whom he threatened after being unwilling to move. He then left the scene before Minneapolis police arrived.

“We’re not trying to get him in trouble, but we are making sure that our staff and students and faculty are not scared,” Rich said.

Rich said that public safety officers had seen the man around campus before and would continue to monitor the campus. Public safety included a description of the man in an email to students and staff Thursday afternoon.

“We just want to make sure that people are aware and have knowledge. It doesn’t mean that we’re not going to go out there and look. It doesn’t mean that we aren’t going to patrol,” Rich said.
