For a moment, it felt like the Tommies might pull off a thrilling overtime win against Butler on homecoming Saturday at O’Shaughnessy Stadium.

Senior linebacker Jordan Pendleton scooped a fumble and returned it to Butler’s end zone on the first possession of overtime. The entire team raced down the sideline, their arms up, and met Pendleton in the south end zone.

The problem? It didn’t count. An offside penalty denied a walk-off win.

A play later, Butler junior quarterback Reagan Andrew sneaked for a 1-yard touchdown to win 21-14.

Jordan Addison came up big when his teammates needed him the most.

The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver was benched for the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns for missing a team walk-through this past week.

But he scored the game-winning touchdown in Minnesota’s 21-17 victory over Cleveland at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

“He spoke with the team to let them know that whenever I gave him the opportunity to go in the game, they could count on him,” coach Kevin O’Connell said.

St. Thomas women’s soccer fell 3-2 to the Omaha Mavericks Sunday afternoon. Izzy McEwan and Tatum Trettel scored goals for the Tommies but couldn’t prevent the team from dropping to 3-7-1 on the season.
