St. Thomas hockey had its opening games at the Lee and Penny Anderson arena this weekend.

Women’s hockey lost 7-6 on Friday afternoon to Providence, but came back to win 5-1 Saturday afternoon. With just five shots on goal from both teams during the first period. The Tommies exploded offensively in the second, outshooting Providence 15-4.

Men’s hockey crumbled in its second game against Providence despite tying 2-2 in the first game. After “straying from the game plan,” unquote according to coach rico blasi, the Tommies’ struggles in the second period led to a 7-4 loss.

St. Thomas football dominated Stetson University 52-10. Graduate quarterback Andy Peters returned from a one-week absence and threw for 292 yards… a Division I program record. The Tommies have now won three games in a row, scoring at least 50 points in all matchups.
