Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, is set to make a rare appearance Wednesday on the world stage when he speaks at the U.N. General Assembly in what is likely the first time a foreign leader addresses the world body while their country is at war with the host nation.
Arriving in New York under heavy security and scrutiny, Pezeshkian will address world leaders a day after U.S. President Donald Trump used the same stage to suggest he may “annihilate” the Islamic Republic if a deal isn’t reached soon to end the nearly seven-month war.
A federal judge in Rhode Island has struck down a Trump administration directive that would have barred some immigrants from accessing certain federal programs, including Head Start preschools, community health clinics and adult education initiatives.

Online voting began Tuesday for Fat Bear Week, the annual contest that pits the rotund residents of Katmai National Park and Preserve against each other for the title of most oversized ursine. The contest, which is in its 12th year, celebrates the resilience of the 2,200 brown bears that live in the preserve on the Alaska Peninsula.
