St. Thomas Undergraduate Student Government listed the dates for 2024 general council voting on TommieLink, those being 8 a.m. on September 24 to 8 p.m. on September 25. There are 13 positions open on the general council this semester.

The USG also announced the implementation of satellite hours every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in ASC 237 for students to meet with the executive board. With these, they hope to increase USG visibility and student engagement.

The Justice Department is preparing undisclosed criminal charges in connection with an Iranian hack that targeted Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, according to two people familiar with the matter on Thursday.  

The Trump campaign disclosed on Aug. 10 that it had been hacked and said Iranian actors had stolen and distributed sensitive internal documents. Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen said that Iranian involvement in the upcoming Nov. 5 election has grown increasingly aggressive in the perceived interest of the country’s national security interests.

The death toll in the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam climbed to 233 on Friday as rescue workers recovered more bodies from areas hit by landslides and flash floods, state media reported.

The typhoon made landfall Saturday, setting off heavy rains. Across the country, 103 people are still missing and more than 800 have been injured.
