U.S. stocks are drifting near their records Wednesday after the latest inflation update boosted hopes that more help for the economy will arrive next month from another cut to interest rates.  

The S&P 500 was virtually flat in morning trading, coming off its first loss since before election day last week. The Dow Jones Industrial average was up 116 points, or 0.3%, as of 10:59 a.m. Eastern time, and the NASDAQ composite was 0.2% lower.

President-elect Donald Trump is bringing four Advisers from his Presidential Campaign into his new White House as deputy chiefs of staff, including two longtime aides and the political director who played a key role in his victory.

For the first time since the Taliban returned to power in 2021, Afghanistan on Monday sent a delegation to the United Nations climate talks in a bid to garner help in dealing with global warming.

Afghanistan has been hard hit by climate change, with a recent assessment by climate experts ranking it the sixth most climate vulnerable country in the world.
