President Trump will speak today with Russian President Vladimir Putin about a possible development in the War in Ukraine. White House officials say they are hoping to agree on a ceasefire proposal that would stop fighting between Russia and Ukraine for 30 days. Ukraine has already accepted a US-proposed ceasefire deal.
A doctor from Lebanon was deported this weekend despite holding a U.S. Visa. The Department of Homeland Security said Monday on social media that Doctor Rasha Alawieh admitted to support a Hezbollah leader and attending his funeral.
Alawieh was deported after a federal judge ordered that a hearing must be held before her removal. Government lawyers claim customs officials did not hear the order until after her deportation. Documents detailing the reasons for deporting Alawieh are in court filings with the Just Department, but those records have been sealed. Alawieh’s case is the latest in a slew of Trump deportations.
Finally, a Pacific storm will move through the western U.S., which could lead to blizzard-like conditions Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile, dry, windy conditions in the Plains means residents should be on the watch for fire threats. New severe weather comes after the deadly storms in the South and Midwest this weekend that has now killed at least 42 people.
