President Donald Trump warned Monday that the arrest and possible deportation of a Palestine activist who helped lead protests at Columbia University will be the first “of many to come” as his administration cracks down on campus demonstrations against Israel and the war in Gaza.

Mahmoud Khalil, a lawful U.S. resident who was a graduate student at Columbia until December, was detained Saturday by federal immigration agents in New York and flown to an immigration jail in Louisiana.

Senior officials from Ukraine and the United States opened talks Tuesday on how to end Moscow’s three-year war against Kyiv, hours after Russian air defenses shot down 343 Ukrainian drones.

Three people were killed and 18 were injured, including three children, in the massive drone attack that spanned 10 Russian regions, officials said.

Wall Street inched higher Tuesday following a big selloff to start the week that was spurred by the potential economic damage from President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

Tesla took back a small portion of Monday’s losses, rising 2.7%. Investors have grown increasingly pessimistic about the Elon Musk-owned electric car company as sales fall in the U.S. and abroad.

Its shares tumbled more than 15% Wednesday, with many analysts blaming the company’s recent sales slump on Musk’s role in President Trump’s downsizing efforts and his broader embrace of far-right politics around the globe.
