China’s response to U.S. tariffs caused an immediate acceleration of losses in markets worldwide.

Stock markets worldwide are plummeting even lower Friday after China matched President Donald Trump’s big raise in tariffs in an escalating trade war.

So far there are few, if any, winners in financial markets from the trade war. European stocks saw some of the day’s biggest losses, with indexes sinking roughly 4%. Basic building blocks for growth, such as copper, also saw prices slide sharply on worries the trade war will weaken the entire global economy.

A crackdown on foreign students is alarming colleges, who say the Trump administration is using new tactics and vague justifications to push some students out of the country.

At Minnesota State University in Mankato, President Edward Inch told the campus Wednesday that visas had been revoked for five international students for unclear reasons.

St. Thomas and Director of Construction John Silva confirms that April 21st will be the start date for Owens Science Hall greenhouse destruction and the construction of what he said the university is calling the Center for Microgrid Research. The project’s completion date is the end of January of 2026.
