Senior forward Lucas Wahlin was named one of three finalists for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Year award Monday afternoon.
Wahlin tallied 14 assists and 14 goals in CCHA play, finishing with the second-highest total of 28 points. He appeared in all 26 CCHA games for St. Thomas.
Wahlin also leads the CCHA in total goals with 21, totaling 38 points across all games for the 2025-26 season. He is one of just five current players in the country to have recorded three 30-point seasons.
Wahlin is also a finalist for the CCHA Defensive Forward of the Year award. The Woodbury native blocked 17 shots and won 48.2% of his face-offs. The CCHA Defensive Forward of the Year will be announced on March 11.
“A lot of it is just trusting yourselves, trusting your teammates, that they’re gonna get the job done, and that you’re gonna get their job done,” Wahlin said after the Tommies’ CCHA quarterfinal series win.
Wahlin was a key contributor to the Tommies’ CCHA quarterfinal series victory over No. 7 Lake Superior State, recording an assist and scoring two goals in the second game against the Lakers for a 5-2 St. Thomas win.
The three-time captain will lead St. Thomas on Saturday for their CCHA semifinal matchup at home in Anderson Arena against Augustana. Wahlin scored a goal on the Vikings in a 3-3 tie on Feb. 20.
The other two finalists are Bemidji State junior forward Oliver Peer and Michigan Tech senior forward Stiven Sardarian. Peer scored 16 goals for the Beavers, and Sardarian dished 22 assists for the Huskies. Saradarian, originally from Saint Petersburg, Russia, has the most points in the CCHA with 32.
Voting for all of the CCHA year-end awards was conducted by the nine CCHA head coaches. Votes were based on CCHA games only, and coaches could not vote for their own players.
The CCHA Forward of the Year will be announced on Thursday, March 12.
