Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and close ally of president Donald Trump who played an influential role in rallying young republican voters, was shot and killed at a Utah college event in what the governor called a political assassination.
Authorities say Kirk was killed with a single shot from a rooftop on Wednesday. Authorities in Utah are working to identify the shooter, who jumped off a roof and fled after firing the fatal shot.
A student shot two of his peers Wednesday at a suburban Denver high school before shooting himself and later dying, authorities said.
The shooting was reported around 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado, about 30 miles west of Denver.
By early evening, one teen was in stable condition with what Dr. Brian Blackwood, the hospital’s trauma director, described as non-life threatening injuries.
